Originally known as Office Specialty, the company was founded in Rochester, NY in 1888 and moved to Canada in 1904. The company relocated its operations to the current location of Holland Landing, Ontario in 1950.

In 1997, Office Specialty became a publicly traded company and then in 1999 adopted a new name – Inscape (INQ), positioning itself as a leading designer and manufacturer of commercial office interiors.
